Watch this pre-brief video so you are ready for your day with a Backcountry Guide- know what to bring and what to expect on your day! This video is NOT MEANT TO REPLACE TRAINING AND A BRIEFING WITH YOUR JHMR BACKCOUNTRY GUIDE.

Skiers and riders should be confident on un-groomed black terrain. Expert level preferred/required.

Start your day right by meeting your backcountry guide at 8:30 a.m. and riding the early Tram or Gondola to the top of the Mountain, where you learn the basics of performing an avalanche transceiver search and then exit the gates to begin your adventure.

What comes next is up to you! Want to tour all day for one epic run? Do you prefer less hiking and more skiing? Are you curious about snow science? Professional backcountry guides create a fun and educational day in the backcountry customized to your interests.

For a successful day in the backcountry, make sure that you come prepared with the right gear and equipment. Note that backcountry gear rentals are only available for clients with a Mountain Sports School backcountry booking.

If you're looking to get away from the resort, we also offer guided trips to Teton Pass. Boasting some of the most accessible backcountry skiing in America and an abundance of moderate slopes, Teton Pass is a great spot for expert powder skiers. Get the most out of your Jackson Hole visit by hiring a backcountry guide. Reservations are required. To make a reservation, call 307.739.2797.

Want to dig in even deeper; get out even further? Join us for our 4 day backcountry camp. Learn from the best in the business, exploring topics such as route selection, snow pack evaluation and back country travel best practices. Your classroom is the storied and vast Jackson Hole Mountain Resort back country.

We operate on the Bridger-Teton National Forest under a permit from the National Forest Service.
