Corbet's Couloir is undergoing a transformation. Without any sculpting, it exists as one of the most challenging in-bounds runs in North America. Combine the legendary allure of Kings & Queens with the creativity from Jackson Hole Park Crew, and the beast bares a whole new set of fangs.

It's imperative to build your perspective with a few facts about the Couloir and the entire venue, as the sheer scale may deceive your eyes.

  • The elevation of the entrance to Corbet's Couloir sits at 10,250 ft. The base of Tensleep Bowl, where competitors will cap their runs with a huge kicker, sits almost 600 vertical feet below. That’s approximately 15 school buses' length stacked front-to-back.
  • Corbet's Couloir is approximately 1.5 acres, from the goat path entrance to the apron and base of Tensleep Bowl. The entire venue is 7.5 acres, which begins at the WyoLink building just downhill of Corbet’s Cabin and ends at the bottom of Tensleep Bowl.
  • The average slope of the Couloir is 40 degrees. That means once competitors commit to their run, speed is the name of the game.
  • The upper width of the Couloir is approximately 50 feet. Flanked by a massive rock wall (graced by Hans Mindnitch at last year’s competition) to the rider’s left and perched upon a hardened cornice, competitors must choose one of two entry options: through the air or riding the goat path. Whichever method they choose, it’s sure to spike our adrenaline.

Enhancing the natural features of the Couloir is no small feat. Our Park Crew meticulously crafts jump features within it, through any sort of condition. Check out this excerpt from our recent video, Park Crew: Behind the Shovels:

As a spectator, there are an array of jumps visible from the base of Tensleep Bowl. At first glance, you have a massive kicker prominently displayed at the bottom of the run (this is a work in progress). Gazing up to your left, you’ll find a sizable wedge located where S&S Couloir conjoins with Corbet’s. Switching back to the right, there are two jumps hugging the north wall of the Couloir, one double the size of the other. Tracking back to the left, there is a feature placed on top of a rock outcropping. During higher snowfall years, this outcropping is completely hidden from view. Lastly, on the upper-left side of the Couloir is a sweeping jump cut in next to the south wall. This is the first feature within the Couloir that competitors will face. Scroll to the bottom of the page to take a photo tour of the venue in its current form. Jackson Hole Park Crew will continue to manicure the venue until it’s time for the competitors to drop in.
