Ever dreamed of biking through open fields of wildflowers surrounded by 12,000’ mountains? Now is your chance. Our one-way bike rental program allows you to rent a bike at Teton Village Sports and drop it right in the town of Jackson. Or if you prefer, the program also allows you to rent a bike at our town shop, Hoback Sports, and drop it off at Teton Village. Wondering how you get back to your original starting point? We will provide you with a complimentary START bus ticket.
Here’s how to do it. Start your adventure right in Teton Village at the iconic Teton Village Sports shop. Pick up a pathway bike rental and head outside. The pathway system in the Jackson Hole valley is extensive and well-marked. You will be guided by signs throughout the way so do not fret – leave those maps behind!
Hop right on the bike path from TVS and head south. As you leave Teton Village and the welcome sign is at your back you will begin to see endless amounts of open spaces. Look to your right and to your left as you bike south on the bike path. This is the Snake River Ranch, a fully operational cattle ranch. If you are lucky enough you might even see a cowboy herding the livestock to greener pastures. Say goodbye to the cows and continue on. You’ll cross over the “love bridge” that hugs Fish Creek – a popular tubing hole for locals.
After another mile you’ll hit The Aspens – stop at the quaint Aspens Market for a quick snack or beverage and continue on. After another 4 miles you’ll find yourself under a bike tunnel that will pop you out on the opposite side of the road. Look out for moose as this is their favorite place to hangout. You’ll start to see some tributaries of the Snake River that have formed into ponds. Take a dip if it’s too hot outside or keep on peddling. You’ll cross the Snake River itself where you’ll see boaters and anglers alike. Keep on the pathway and you’ll find yourself hugging the main road to town. Peddle for another 5 miles next to gorgeous landscapes and Teton views.
Alas – you have reached the town of Jackson. Where once upon a time French fur trappers and Wild West cowboys roamed. Although real duals are outlawed they still do reenactments on the Town Square if you are looking for some live entertainment. If you don’t feel like peddling the 12 miles back to Teton Village you can return your bicycle at our town shop Hoback Sports and get a complimentary START bus ticket to ride the bus back to Teton Village.
You can also do this adventure backwards – start at Hoback Sports in town and drop your bike off at Teton Village Sports. Whatever you do, whichever route you choose, don’t forget to end your adventure with a ride up the Bridger Gondola to grab one of Jackson Hole’s world famous waffles.
