STORM UPDATE (Sunday, 11 AM MST): Weekenders are reveling in the conditions here in Teton Village, as snow has fallen for the 5th consecutive day and talks of ‘being in the flow’ begin to become more prevalent throughout the tram line. As snow reporter, Jeff Leger noted on the daily snow report, “7 inches of high-grade snow landed overnight, and 5 consecutive days of fresh has transformed Rendezvous Mountain into a skiers delight. Expect more snow to fall intermittently through the day…” it appears we are in for another pulse of snow in the next 24 hours following nearly a week of soft. All the talk of doing the snow dance have paid off. Forecasts show another 6-12″ impacting the Tetons in the coming days. Will there be any fresh canvas tomorrow morning? Time will tell.

STORM UPDATE (Friday, 11 AM MST): Safe to say this storm has produced. We’re happy to report that we’ve received 10” of snowfall in the last 24 hours and are still awaiting what appears to be another system entering the Northern Rockies in the next  2-3 days. With forecasts predicting consistent snowfall throughout the weekend, those traveling to the Tetons are in luck! Thursday was a full on storm skiing day with 5” dropping during operating hours and another 5” overnight. Anxious skiers and riders awaited the bell this morning and when the time came, there was silence no more. Moments of stoke we’re followed with hoots and hollers from the top of Rendezvous Mountain to the bottom of Teewinot chair. Ullr has rewarded us with a powder party for MLK Day. Powderhounds rejoice!

It’s been just 53 short days since we kicked off our 2018-19 winter season here in Jackson Hole and early this morning we inched our way to 200″ of cumulative snowfall at our Rendezvous Mountain plot. As snow falls this morning, we are excited to hear the rumblings of an “atmospheric river” forming in the Pacific Ocean and impacting the coastal mountain ranges of California en route to Jackson Hole tomorrow. Typically when forecasters and meteorologists mention that type of terminology, skiers and riders listen intently. Local forecasters are calling for anywhere between 10″ and 20″ of snow to grace Northwest Wyoming in the next 4 days, confirming the powder dreams of visitors for MLK weekend that arrive in the coming days. Check out our favorite local meteorologist’s, Jim Woodmency, discussion for the upcoming storm, here.

It’s safe to say we’ve seen it all so far this season, from DEEP powder turns to bluebird skies and an already amazing lineup of events. We’ve chosen a few of our favorite photos and videos to give you a look back on what those 200″ have brought to us already and give you an idea of what the next 200-300″ may look like as the season ages like your favorite ski boot. Remember that last season our monthly snow totals increased every month from December through March, and that should be enough to reassure all of us that the best turns still lie ahead, at least (hopefully) you’ve got your ski legs under thus far. Wherever you sit now, remember to continue your snow rituals, whether that entails a spoon under your pillow, a white crayon in the freezer, inside out and backward pajamas, the classic snow dance, or maybe something more progressive like measuring stripes on Wooly Bear caterpillars

… and now our favorite moments thus far through 2018-19 here in Jackson Hole.
