Meet the Athletes

Alex Hackel

2x X Games Medalist, Kings & Queens 2025 2nd Place & 2023 3rd Place

Alex Hackel is a 2-time finisher at Kings and Queens hailing from Boston, MA. He made a name for himself in the freeskiing scene with his creative film parts with The Bunch. Hackel was once on track to become a force on the slopestyle scene. Under the guidance of Mike Hanley at Windells Ski Camp in Mt. Hood, Oregon, Hackel stomped one of the first-ever Triple Cork 1080s at West Coast Session 8 in 2014 and made the U.S. Freeski Team as a teenager. Hackel then decided to give up competitive skiing to pursue his passion for creating film parts. That’s when Alex met Magnus Granér, a Swedish skier making waves with The Bunch - a Scandinavian crew bringing new cohesiveness, fluidity, and style to street skiing. Alex joined forces with The Bunch and they went on to make several award-winning ski movies together. Hackel was invited to compete in X-Games Real Ski in 2020 and 2021, where he won bronze and silver medals and the ‘fan favorite’ vote. Now, Hackel is focused on taking his unique style to the backcountry and growing 1000Skis, the ski making company he founded alongside other members of The Bunch in 2021.

The unique Wasatch Mountain range allowed her to hone in on her skills, and she was invited to her first Kings and Queens competition in 2022. That win in 2022 gave her to momentum she needed to be recognized, and she walked away with her first sponsor. After taking home last year's notorious Tomahawk award, naturally given to the couloir's best tomahawk, Piper is eager to put it back to her feet and reclaim her crown.
