Feb. 24 - March 1 - Dr. Huckinstuff's weekly recap:

Come with me as I spin a skier's tale as old as time, that tells of towering granite peaks half buried in pow and fully coated with rime. The final weekend of February saw skiers flocking to the slopes to enjoy soft snow with unseasonably mild temperatures. It had already been a huge month with the first 3 weeks picking up over 100 inches, and weary skiers were seemingly happy to tone it down for a few days. The easy carving conditions were settling a mellow vibe in the minds of visitors and locals alike, but all the while February was brewing up a final blast of blower for the month. Monday night saw the skies open up, dropping a hefty 15-inch blanket on the mountain by Tuesday morning. Then, in a power combination of powder punches that would make Mike Tyson blush, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday added another 18" to the tally and a few extra squirts of adrenaline to the alpine rush. The month eventually came to a close with a powder leap day that, true to its name, had the illustrious Jackson Hole Air Force rank and file indulging in obscene aerial antics. After it was all said and done over 10 feet had fallen in February. Exactly what the Doctor ordered to get the Gentle Giant back into mid-winter shape. It was a blurry stretch of storms that will require much more reflection to fully grasp. But that is a task for another time because a lion-like start to March is now roaring into the Tetons, demanding the attention of our deepest dreams. An 8" pick up set the stage this morning for an extended stretch of high energy powder events. With super-hero quality snow covering all aspects of the mountain and the additional incoming snow expected to be measured in feet, I can already hear the sounds of over-stoked skiers shouting "SWEEET!" -Lege

10-Day Forecast
