It’s no secret that Jackson Hole is home to some of the most stunning landscapes and thrilling adventures in the world, wowing over 2.6 million visitors each year. Most of these travelers flock to the Tetons in the mid-late summer months or over winter holidays, leaving the “shoulder seasons”, late Spring, early Summer, and Fall, as amazing times to explore the stunning landscapes crowd-free.
As the spring snow melts, the valley and mountains turn bright green blooming with wildflowers and active wildlife. Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks will soon be swarmed with tourists, but in the early summer, they open peacefully welcoming locals and visitors alike that seek to make the most of this magical time.
Best Things to do in the Spring:
- Bike the Park Road: Each year before the Teton Park Road in Grand Teton National Park opens to vehicles, it opens for walking, biking, and skating; offering incredible views of the Tetons without the summer vehicle traffic. Bike rentals are available at Hoback Sports. Visitors can park at the Taggart Lake Parking Lot to begin their ride. The road will open to vehicle traffic on May 1, 2023; however, walking, biking, and skating is still available along the adject bike path.
- Ride the Tram: The Aerial Tram opens for the season on May 20, 2023. Ride the tram for scenic views of the valley and legendary waffles at the top of the world.
- Elk Fest and Old West Days: From chili cook-offs to parades and more, celebrate the history and heritage of Jackson Hole in Jackson Town Square from May 19-29, 2023.
Early summer is without a doubt one of the best times of the year in Jackson Hole, not only is the landscape coming to life, but the valley is also full of exciting events, activities, and things to do.
