Less than two weeks into the season and we're already in the powder vortex, with nearly four feet of fresh flakes stacking up in the Tetons since Dec. 1, much to the delight of skiers and riders who call our mountain home. It's been a historic opening: pre-season snow coverage allowed us to open five lifts on Opening Day, Nov. 25; and then on Saturday, Dec. 3, we opened the Aerial Tram for the season--on a bluebird powder day no less! To put this start into context, we compiled historical snowfall data:

2022

Historical Average

Highest Year

158” Total Snow

98” Total Snow

157” (2010)

60” Base

40” Base

71” (1985)

With well-above-average conditions and more snow slated to smack Rendezvous Mountain this weekend and next week, we are overjoyed at the multitude of terrain and lift options: 9/13 lifts and 66/131 trails are available--and that's without our brand-new Thunder Lift.

Locals and visiting guests alike are raving about walk-on trams, thanks in part to our advance reservation and daily lift ticket capacity measures, as well as the timing of all this snow! Powdery conditions in Rendezvous Bowl and the rest of the upper mountain are abundant; light-to-medium density snow has created prime conditions for crisp groomer skiing, too, helping set the stage for what we hope will continue to be a deep winter. Check out photos from the season so far below!

Thunder Lift Opens Dec. 10

Our brand-new Thunder Lift will commence operations on Dec. 10. Then on Dec. 17, we will have a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. We can't wait to spin some laps with you all!

Half-Off Early Season Group Lessons

Ahhhh.. early season skiing. Soft snow, low-angle sun, small crowds; the anticipation of the long season ahead. In the lift maze, you look to your right--and then to your left--and you know you are among your kind. You all share the passion: waiting through the fall for the snow to fly and the lifts to spin. Gathering at pre-season ski swaps and seeing your best ski partners at the local ski fitness class. For every skier and rider, it is a seasonal rite of passage. It just doesn’t get any better. Or does it…
