Nothing ruins a day on the mountain faster than being cold and uncomfortable. While we typically only see the outer layers of one's ski kit, there are a variety of layers underneath specially designed for optimal performance and insulation. For the best day on the slopes, it's crucial to have a ski kit that keeps you both warm and comfortable. Let's walk through all the essential pieces of a good ski kit.

Base Layers

Base layers are moisture-wicking and provide the first layer of insulation.

  • Tops
  • Bottoms
  • Socks

Pro tip: For a comfortable boot fit, it is important to reduce friction in the boots so be sure only to wear one pair of socks and keep all base layers untucked from the boots; with full-length base layer bottoms, fold the ends up to stay out of the boots, or try 3/4 length bottoms.

Mid Layers

Mid-layers provide the most warmth in the layering system. The mid-layer pieces are easy to take on and off depending on the temperature and level of activity. On warmer days wear just one mid-layer and on colder days wear multiple!

  • Fleece
  • Insulated Jacket
