From spotting wildlife and soaking in hot springs to exploring western culture, savoring delicious dining, and unwinding in cozy mountain lodges—Jackson Hole has something for everyone. Beyond world-class skiing and reliable snow, it’s where families connect with the true spirit of the Rocky Mountains. Discover why Jackson Hole is the ultimate family ski destination below.
The Kids Adventure Map
Nowhere else offers such a treasure trove of kid-friendly ski adventures. Grab the double-sided Kids Adventure Map to uncover the mountain’s secret “kid names.” Ever heard of Princess Woods, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, or the Daily Drop? Probably not—those trails are for kids only! Explore hidden gems like Transformer Bumps, Stokeville, and the Stash Parks for endless fun on snow. As you adventure around the mountain, check off each spot on your map to earn prizes and collect stickers along the way.
Choose Your Line, Stay Together
Take a close look at our trail map—at the top of every lift (except the tram), you’ll find a network of blue trails and cattracks weaving across the mountain. Many of these trails skirt around steeper terrain, making them perfect for families with mixed abilities: part of the group can take on more challenging runs while others stick to easier slopes, then regroup later. Along the way, the trails offer not just fun turns, but also stunning scenery as you traverse the mountain.
Expediting Progression
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort delivers a full range of terrain and experiences for every ability level. From seasoned experts charging steep chutes and cliffs to first-timers just learning the basics, our mountain, abundant snowfall, and world-class learning resources create the ideal setting for progression at any pace.
Terrain Based Learning
Terrain Based Learning offers an immersive, hands-on approach to skiing and snowboarding. Instead of practicing on flat beginner slopes, learners navigate dynamic terrain that mirrors real mountain conditions. This method builds confidence, improves technique faster, and makes learning fun for all ages. Using features like rollers, banked turns, and obstacles across five modules, students develop skills naturally while enjoying an engaging, real-world experience.
Kids Lessons
At Jackson Hole, our mission is to inspire the next generation of skiers and snowboarders. Our staff live to ski and ride, and they’re eager to share that passion while helping kids progress with confidence and joy. Year after year, children grow with us—starting as curious Bears, advancing to Bison and Wolves, and eventually soaring as Eagles. Being part of that journey is a true privilege, and we can’t wait to welcome your little ones, whether they’re brand new to the sport or returning to reach new heights.
Just two minutes from the base via the Sweetwater Gondola, Solitude Station is the hub of our Mountain Sports School. This 12,000-square-foot lodge features learning spaces, rentals, and dining facilities—all designed to create a welcoming, full-service center where families can relax and kids can thrive on the mountain.
One-on-One Nannies
Our One-on-One Nannies provide personalized care for our youngest guests, ages 5 months to 3 years. Each child is paired with a dedicated, trained caregiver for a safe, nurturing, and engaging day in our on-mountain childcare facility. From story time and creative play to quiet rest and outdoor adventures, every moment is thoughtfully designed to meet your child’s needs and interests.
Parents can enjoy the slopes knowing their little ones are in expert hands—right here at the resort.

Awarded Best Overall Safety Program in United States
Winning the National Ski Areas Association’s Best Overall Safety Program is no small achievement, especially in the rugged terrain of the Tetons. At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s at the core of everything we do. This national recognition highlights our commitment to building a safer mountain experience for all, from first turns in our Family Zones to expert lines off the Tram.
Triangle of Safety
Around the mountain, you’ll see clear signage promoting our Triangle of Safety and the Responsibility Code. These reminders keep safety top of mind and make sure every guest shares the same commitment—looking out for themselves and for each other on the slopes.
Speed
Always control your speed and stay within your limits. In crowded areas, go with the flow and slow down when visibility is limited. Continuously scan ahead for obstacles like rocks, trees, or people. When entering a steep section, reduce speed and ensure it's clear to proceed.
Space
Always yield to downhill skiers/riders as they have the right of way. Maintain space and anticipate traffic. When passing, do so cautiously and ensure there's enough room for safe maneuvering. Communicate your intentions when necessary to respect others' personal space.
Self
You are responsible for your own and others' safety. Take breaks if you're tired or frustrated to avoid accidents. Wear a helmet and ensure your equipment is in good condition. Check in with yourself before starting and stay aware of your surroundings.
Slow Zones
Certain areas of the mountain (highlighted on the map below) are designated SLOW ZONES. In these areas, please match the general flow of traffic and keep your speed under control—fast or aggressive skiing and riding will not be tolerated.
Don’t worry, this is Jackson Hole—you’ll find no shortage of steeps, cirques, chutes, and airs to push your limits. But our Slow Zones aren’t the place for that. With help from our dedicated Speed Wranglers, we keep these areas safe so everyone can enjoy the mountain. Check the map below to see where Slow Zones are located.
