The late, great Doug Coombs, a pioneer of extreme skiing and inveterate explorer of JHMR’s most challenging in- and out-of-bounds terrain, founded this four-day camp to show skiers JHMR’s wildest side, and to help them confidently ski it. Doug died in 2006, but his Steep & Deep legacy continues on, with the camps drawing aspiring extreme skiers from across the country to experience expert coaching, video analysis, apres ski events, and off-piste and backcountry adventures in small groups. Steep & Deep welcomes skiers who are advanced- and expert-level and above.

Our iconic four-day Steep & Deep camp is for snowboarders looking to challenge themselves on and learn the secrets of confidently riding some of our most challenging terrain. Expect small groups, coaching from some of our best Mountain Sports School snowboard coaches, video analysis, apres events, and more. Steep & Deep welcomes intermediate to expert snowboarders.

This four-day camp includes everything other Steep & Deep camps do—expert coaching, off-piste and backcountry adventures, small groups, apres events, and video analysis, and then throws in extra credit. The extra credit is the opportunity to ski with and learn about shooting and editing from members of the GoPro team. GoPro Steep & Deep welcomes skiers who are advanced- and expert-level and above. No experience with GoPros or filming and editing videos is needed.

Steep and Deep Masters Camp is a skiing experience tailored for seasoned mountain adventurers aged 60 and above.
Delve into the legacy of Doug Coombs and Steep and Deep Camps as you explore Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's challenging terrain guided by expert coaches dedicated to refining your technique and celebrating your lifelong love for the slopes. Benefit from expert coaching tailored to your needs and goals as a master’s skier, emphasizing technique refinement and confidence-building on advanced and expert terrain, all at a pace that feels enjoyable.
Steep and Deep Masters and Steep and Deep Camp collaborate during the week to forge meaningful connections with fellow skiers of all ages who share a passion for big mountain skiing. Steep And Deep Masters enjoys the same schedule as Steep and Deep camp, including video analysis, backcountry experience (conditions/abilities dependent), group lunches, après events and banquet dinner.

Mammut Backcountry Camps
In 1998, we were one of the first ski areas to open its boundaries, allowing skiers and snowboarders to explore adjacent backcountry terrain without worrying about having their passes pulled. Even though it’s now the rare resort that has closed boundaries, we continue to be a pioneer in backcountry access through our 2- to 4-day backcountry camps. Presented in partnership with Mammut, a Swiss company recognized for its innovative backcountry safety gear, these camps feature our best mountain guides teaching topics from route selection to snowpack evaluation, backcountry travel best practices, and backcountry equipment. Your “classroom” for these camps? Some of the country’s most epic and expansive backcountry terrain. No prior backcountry experience is required for these camps, but you must be able to comfortably ski varying conditions off-piste.

Ski with an Olympian
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is proud to have two Olympians, Tommy Moe and Resi Stiegler, as Ski Guides and Special Ambassadors on the mountain they both have called home for more than 20 years. Tapping into their incredible Olympic insights, they will take your private group on a personal tour of the mountain, including their favorite stashes.
Guided Backcountry Tours
JHMR’s 2,500 acres of inbounds terrain are amazing. And there’s even more amazing terrain that surrounds us. Stretching south from the resort, the Bridger-Teton National Forest is an expanse of wildland about the size of the state of Connecticut. Trained in avalanche safety and with years of exploring JHMR’s and the BTNF’s backcountry under their skis and boards, JHMR Backcountry Guides create custom side- and back-country experiences in this vast wilderness that will redefine what an “epic” ski day is.
